Transformative Leadership: Ukodhiko’s Quest for Quality Representation In Isoko
By Jefferson Oruoghorie
The colossal failure being witnessed across some nations, especially those in third world countries and developing economies are often attributable to lack of good governance and insensitivity to the plights of citizens. Bad governance in these developing and under developed nations are mostly characterised by absence of basic infrastructure, human capital development and empowerment.
One of the principal issues in the analysis of development is the extent to which our key leaders and representatives influence it. It is on this note that i acknowledge Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko Member Representing Isoko North/South Federal Constituency on his poise to deliver good governance to his people through quality and purposeful representation.
Having assessed his scorecard for the past one year as an elected representative it will suffice to state that the Hon. Ukodhiko is not just there as a figure head, but also to perform the functions for which he was elected.
As a lawmaker you will agree with me that his programmes and projects both in physical infrastructures and human capital development, Bills and motions moved are very visible to the blind. He is one representative across the nation who sees the happiness of his constituents as top priority.
Looking at the nexus between democracy, good governance and economic growth, it is imperative to ensure the actualization of our democratic process and beliefs. It is this same process and beliefs our Honourable Member has keyed into decisively to ensure that dividends of democracy are brought not just to a few but to the entire grassroot.
Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, has done marvelously well and has touched vast areas in law making in the legislative business and also influence lots of constituency projects and programmes that have directly or indirectly affected the people of Delta State and that of the Isoko nation in general.
Good Governance represent and describe how public institutions conduct public affairs and manage public resources for the overall good or interest of her citizens, and this is unarguably one of the key successes recorded by Ukodhiko.
I may not list or touch all his achievements here but will brief the world little of what the Honourable Member has achieved so far within a period of 1 year in office below :
✓A Bill for an Act to Amend the Federal Medical Centers Act and Establish the Federal Medical Center Oleh, Delta State.
✓A Bill For An Act to Establish the Federal University of Agriculture, Erawah-Owhe. If this sails through, it will create business opportunities and employment around the university town.
✓A Bill For An Act to Repeal Technology Business Incubator Foundation (Takeover) Act to provide for the establishment of Technology Incubation and other related matters.
✓A Bill For An Act to provide for the Establishment of Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, Owhelogbo, Delta State.
✓ A Bill For An Act to Establish College of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Olomoro, Delta State to provide full time courses, teaching, instruction and training in Technology; appliedd Science, Arts and Social Sciences, etc.
Ukodhiko in his usual way has also moved Motions in the House of Representatives, A Motion for the Urgent Need to Compel Oil and Gas Companies to stop Gas Flaring and convert same to provide 24 hours electricity to Isoko Communities and Environs. The motion has since been referred to the compliance Committee for review and compliance.
Ukodhiko’s quest to further improve the quality of education of Isoko citizens and also Support Education growth has dished out various Scholarships for the overall best performing students with the highest scores in the JAMB Examination in Isoko North/South Federal Constituency. Last weekend he fulfilled this promise by presenting certificate of Scholarships to the deserving students studying various courses at Madonna University.
The above are testimonies of good governance and quality representation being delivered by the Hon. Ukodhiko and it is worthy to note that he came prepared to ameliorate the sufferings of our people especially the Isoko extraction.
There are other countless and laudable deliverable programmes and projects initiated and influenced by Jonathan Ukodhiko amongst whom are:

More of these are also on the pipeline to bridge the unemployment gap in Isoko.
√ Ukodhiko also under Civil Engagement introduced Revolving Financial Scheme to ameliorate the hardship faced by some of his aged Constituents, this the honourable member instituted a token of N5,000k monthly for 450 people including persons living with disabilities for the period of his tenure.
In the course of his representation, Jonathan Ukodhiko has embedded into the Federal budget, lots of other projects to be executed awaiting to be awarded for the sole benefit of the people of the Isoko Nation and his constituents.
No doubt he has demostrated the heart to work and ensure every sector benefitted from his representation. It is our business to drum continued support for him and pray he remembers to do more for the benefit of Isoko people and her environs.
Democracy can’t be complete without the provision of good governance and quality representation and that is exactly what Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko is presently offering the Isoko people beyond reasonable doubt.
